SEVEN hundred and seventy-three medals will be up for grabs at the Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD) which will take place from Nov 29 to Dec 6. Fourteen contingents have registered for the sporting extravaganza.
This was revealed during the National Games Executive Committee Meeting held at the Conference Room, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday chaired by the Chairman of SKBD, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Hamid bin Haji Mohd Jaafar.
The bi-annual sporting extravaganza will see 23 sports being contested. Among them are badminton, netball, basketball, football, dart, futsal, top spinning, golf, hockey, karatedo, fencing, cycling, boat race, athletics, silat, petanque, sepak takraw, taekwondo, wushu, and snooker & billiards.
All of the events will take place at various sports venues in Brunei-Muara, Belait and Tutong districts.
As with the last SKBD, this year’s event will also witness the participation of athletes from Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak, who will compete against the local contingents from Brunei-Muara, Belait, Tutong, Temburong, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council, Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council, Higher Education Institutions, combination of Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) companies, Royal Brunei Airlines, combination of ICT and telecommunications companies, and the Brunei Association of Banks.
