LABUAN (Bernama) – A total of 740 foreign nationals were rounded up during two inte-grated operations conducted from January 1 until February 15.
The operations, which focused on the Kian-sam refugee settlement, squatter colonies and construction sites, were led by the National Security Council (MKN).
Sabah and Labuan MKN director, Rodzi
Mad Saad said the operations were a follow-up to the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) which, among others, recom-mended continuing effective operations on il-legal immigrants.
He said the first operation in January saw 650 people, with 611 of them Filipinos, 38 In-donesians and one other national, nabbed.
Rodzi said the remaining 90 people were arrested during a one-day operation on Sun-day. “All of them were among 1,726 people screened during the operations at a number of locations including in the town area,” he said.
