THE Immigration Department has issued six special passes to foreign workers who were found to have violated their immigration passes. They were working as vendors outside a shopping complex in Mukim Berakas.
Their two employers were also issued with calling letters to further assist in the investigation.
The violations were found in a spot check conducted by 14 enforcement personnel led by a Senior Immigration Officer.
Meanwhile, the Immigration Department reiterated the need for employers to ensure that their employees’ immigration passes are still valid and to make sure that they know their employees whereabouts.
Once a foreign employee’s immigration pass is expired, he/she will be deported and blacklisted.
The department also urged foreign workers not to surrender their passports to unknown individuals who claim to be agents.
