FIFTY-two best graduates of Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) walked tall and proud as they were feted yesterday for finishing their diplomas exceptionally well in their respective fields of studies at a ceremony held in conjunction with the 2014 ITB Convocation at the Manggis Hall of Hua Ho Manggis Mall.
The ceremony also was held in recognition of the graduates’ achievements in not just academia but also their co-curricular involvements.
Present to officiate the ceremony was Awang Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Abdul Hamid, a member of the ITB Council cum President of the Brunei Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA).
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming address from Associate Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, in her capacity as ITB’s Acting Vice-Chancellor. The event ensued with speech deliveries by student representatives from both the Degree and Higher National Diploma levels.
The guest of honour later proceeded to present the awards to the 52 graduates.
The awards included Excellence in Programme Area, Most Progressive, Best Project, Best Student in Niche area, Student Achievement Passport, Best in Religious Activities, Best Sportsman/woman, Petrokon Utama Engineering Award and the IET Local Network Prize.
Also present at the ceremony were senior officers at the Ministry of Education, officers, lecturers and graduates of ITB.
