MORE than 50 riders from Brunei Darussalam and abroad took part in the Brunei Darussalam Motorcross Challenge yesterday at Kawasan Tanah Lapang Sungai Besar in Tutong.
The Motorcross Open Category F was won by Ivan Pedro Wuner (Indonesia), followed closely by Hj Idzam Hj Mashud (Brunei) and Syahrizan Shambeda (Tawau Sabah).
The “125 Expert Category” was won by Hj Adzam Hj Mashud (Brunei), followed by Joseph Woon (Sabah) and Abe Hj Panjang (Brunei).
The “125 Novice Category” was won by Mohd Shahnizam bin Hj Tamit (Brunei), followed by Adriano bin Bob (Sabah) and Asnam bin Kurus (Brunei).
Joseph Woon (Sabah) finished first in the Veteran Open Category, followed by Wak Jawadi Wahid (Brunei) and Hii Chang Hoon (Sarawak) in third.
The Motorcross Open Category B was won by Mohd Shahnizam bin Hj Tamit (Brunei), followed by Md Amir Husni bin Barahan (Brunei) and Asnam Bin Kurus (Brunei) in third.
The Minicross Open Category was won by Abdul Wafiy bin Awang Ahmad (Brunei), followed by Nasrol (Brunei) and Mohammad Norzulfadli bin Hj Salleh (Brunei) in third.
The prizes were presented by Tutong District Officer Awang Wardi bin Hj Mohammad Ali.
The certificates of participation were presented by Yang Berhormat Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Awang Haji Othman bin Uking, Tutong District Representative Member of the Legislative Council.
Awang Wardi hoped that the venue for the Motorcross Challenge would continuously be used for recreational activities.
He said he was happy to see such an event unfold in Tutong District, which is considered “a good development and sporting area for the district”.
“The district can be turned into a tourist attraction and help generate income through activities for the local community.”
Awg Abd Khalid bin Abd Latip, Chairman of the Brunei Darussalam Motorcross Challenge believed that the event has the potential to be developed into an attractive sporting event.
