FIFTY-TWO selected applicants have inked the contract agreement for the fourth batch of the scaffolding course with Blue Oceanic Management Services Company yesterday which was held at Youth Development Centre.
The scaffolding course (level one) which saw an increase in number of applications this year will be held for five months at the centre commencing on January 5, 2015 to July 4, 2015.
Throughout the five intensive months, the students will be trained by the Youth Development Centre for two months, and will be given a job placement or attachment in participating private companies for the remaining three months.
Prior to their placement in private companies, students will be given written tests and have to pass their practical skills assessments to achieve the Certificate of Proficiency in Scaffolding from The Welding Institute and Akademi Binaan Malaysia (TWI-ABM).
Meanwhile, the job placement is intended to provide the students with advanced practical trainings and experiences on the needs and demands of the industries and safety policies, as well as to harness the youth to be skilled, committed, responsible and ethical.
This fourth batch will be grouped into two clusters with 26 trainees per cluster.
These chosen students have undergone several selection sessions carried out by both Youth Development Centre and Blue Oceanic Management Services, from interviews, health screening to a four-day leadership camp held at Outward Bound, Temburong.
