THE Asean Disability Forum-Myanmar Organising Committee in collaboration with Asean Disability Forum Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia successfully organised the 4th Asean Disability Forum (ADF) conference from December 16-18 in Yangon, Myanmar.
With the theme “Disability Inclusive Sustainable Development, Peace and Democratisation”, the topics discussed included the human rights perspective of Persons with Disabilities in Asean.
The organiser also touched on the development strategy, in line with Asean inclusion priority and Asean decade of Persons with Disabilities, related to economy, transportation, infrastructure, public services, and equal opportunity in education, health and employment.
Representing Brunei Darussalam were Nurul Aziemah binti Hj Morni from the Community Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Nur Azureen binti Ramblee, ADF Brunei representative; and Hasiah binti Hj Semail from the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Welfare Council for Persons with Disability in Brunei.
The conference also saw a gathering of experts, academia, members of international welfare organisations and associations from Asean member states as well as other countries.
The 3rd ADF was held in Brunei last year.
