AS THE Oil and Gas Sector Job Fair 2014 came to a close yesterday, a presentation ceremony was held for conditional offers of employment (COE) to a total of 497 trainees by companies from the industry.
The trainees include 310 EICF Industrial Skills Qualification (ISQ) 3rd intake trainees, 73 EICF bridging programme trainees and 114 Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA) 2nd intake trainees.
The EICF (Energy Industry Competency Framework) offers vocational and technical training programmes aimed at people with qualifications of Year 9, GCE ‘O’ Levels as well as HND and above. Under the EICF ISQ – which requires a minimum Year 9 education, initial courses available to trainees were for the professions of welders, riggers, scaffolders and markers/fitters.
Out of the 310 EICF ISQ trainees who received their conditional offers of employment, 44 are welders, 76 are riggers, 121 are scaffolders and 69 are markers/fitters.
Additionally, due to EICF’s rapid development to incorporate two bridging programmes, trainees in the fields of masonry and carpentry also received their employment offer letters. In total, 35 masons and 38 carpenters were presented conditional offers of employment yesterday.
Meanwhile, out of the 114 Brunei Maritime Academy trainees to receive their conditional offers of employment, 47 are deck ratings, 27 engine ratings, 22 engine cadets and 18 stewards/cooks.
Among the companies presenting conditional employment offer letters for the welder, rigger, scaffolder and marker/fitter EICF ISQ trainees were Adinin Works & Engineering, Dandy Jaya, JEL (Borneo), Mashhor General Contractors, PTAS, Sahid, SC Oilfields & Logistics, Syarikat Hj Idris Kalong, Syarikat Perdasa and QESS Energy Support Services.
The masonry and carpentry trainees received their offer letters from Batamas, Fazrul, Hj Adinin & Sons (B), Perusahaan Teknomas, Sahid, Syarikat Hj Idris Kalong and Syarikat Sariah dan Anak-Anak.
As for the Brunei Maritime Academy trainees, their conditional employment offers were presented by Amarco, Armada Jaya, Belait Shipping Co (B), Kotug (B), Miclyn Express Offshore, Nautika, Pacific Radiance, PTAS, Serikandi Oilfield and Services and Swire Pacific Offshore Operations.
Present to witness the ceremony was Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar.
