A COMPANY was fined $4,000 for failure to pay income tax as its director pleaded guilty to five charges in the Bandar Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Daggar Sdn Bhd did not pay on time income tax for the years ended December 31, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Magistrate Azrimah Rahman gave a grace period for the fine to be settled considering the company director did not know of the procedures or requirements by the Ministry of Finance. However, the director was reminded of his responsibility to know the rules and regulations governing a company in Brunei Darussalam and not knowing is not a mitigating factor.
DPP Amiriah Hj Ali appeared for the Public Prosecutor.
