MORE than 400 people took part in the National Youth Day Run in Tutong District yesterday. The event was divided into three categories: 10km Male Open, 10km Female Open and Fun Run.
The guest of honour was Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Also showing support for the event were YB Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman bin Uking and YB Awg Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, members of the Legislative Council.
The National Youth Day Run was held simultaneously in all four districts to celebrate the 9th National Youth Day, which carried the theme “Unity in Confronting the Challenges of the 21st Century”.

The event started at 6.30am with aerobic exercises at the Tutong District Sports Complex.
The guest of honour took part in the Fun Run after flagging off the open categories.
The 10km Male Open category was won by Shamsul bin Zamri, followed by Haji Jurpli bin Haji Pangis and Khairula Hakimin bin Ahad in second and third places.
Dyg Nikmatul Fatinah binti Haji Ismail emerged as the champion in the 10km Female Open category, while Sufinah binti Haji Idris won second place and Siti Noorhalizah binti Hamid grabbed third place.
