UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) is sending four of its students to Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers to study Arabic language for eight weeks from February 12 to April 13, 2015.
This was disclosed during a meeting yesterday between the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, and the Rector of UNISSA, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, at the embassy.
The meeting discussed the relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei, particularly in the cultural and academic fields.
During the meeting, the ambassador praised the role of UNISSA in the dissemination of Arabic language, culture and Islamic studies in Brunei.
He also expressed his hope of increasing the cooperation in the educational and cultural fields between UNISSA and relevant institutions in Oman.
The ambassador also wished the four UNISSA students a pleasant stay in Oman and hoped that they will gain both academic and social benefits from the opportunity.
The Rector of UNISSA also emphasised on the keenness of the university to promote academic and cultural cooperation with its counterparts in Oman in the fields of students’ exchange, and scientific and cultural visits to further boost the cultural and educational ties of the two Sultanates.
The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language & Islamic Civilisation, the Deputy Dean of the faculty and the four students who have been selected by the university to study Arabic language in the Sultanate of Oman.
