STATE Mufti’s Office officials will attend the National Book Award ceremony, scheduled to be held tomorrow at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Hj Abu Hanifah, will leave the country today as a representative of the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
Dato Paduka Ahmad Bukhari will be accompanied by the Head of Technical for Publication at the State Mufti’s Office, Awg Osman bin Abu Bakar.
The State Mufti’s Office has sent four books for nomination in the Regional Premier Publishing category – namely,
The Syariah Penal Code: An Introduction (both in English and Bahasa Melayu); State Mufti Fatwa 2012; and Syariah Criminal Penal Code (Neraca Allah), a work of poetry.
The book award, organised by Malaysia’s Book Development Foundation, acts as a recognition and appreciation, and an encourageament for authors to produce quality books that are not merely commercial in nature.
It is also a platform for the general community to get to know authors, artists, graphic designers, photographers and others associated with the production of books in the publishing industry.
