AN OPEN day was held yesterday for the third intake of the National Service Programme (PKBN) at its training ground, where trainees showcased the skills they have learnt throughout the 13-week programme.
The guest of honour at the PKBN Training Camp’s parade square situated in the Sports Village of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex in Berakas, was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Hamid bin Haji Mohd Jaafar. Also present from the ministry was its Deputy Permanent Secretary, Haji Mohd Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad.
The open day was attended by the families of the 77 trainees who fall within the 16-21 years old age range. The activities that trainees took part in during the open day included the recitation of Al-Quran, marching, self-defence, physical training, a PKBN cheer and singing a PKBN song entitled “Sedia Berbakti”.
Family members of the trainees had the opportunity to tour the training camp’s facilities such as the dormitory, prayer hall, lecture hall, medical centre and obstacle course.
According to the PKBN Committee, the third intake consists of 59 men and 18 women who commenced their training on August 24.
The programme and academic activities that make up the components of the PKBN strategy is aimed at moulding and producing capable individuals who are responsible and pious, as well as possessing a positive attitude and a spirit of volunteerism.
