THE Department of Schools under the Ministry of Education (MoE) yesterday handed over donations to 38 students from several schools, who were victims of the recent fires at Kampong Sungai Asam, Kampong Lorong Dalam, Kampong Pandai Besi ‘A’, Kampong Kapok, Kampong Sungai Tanit in Temburong and Penanjong Kem.
The donation was held at the Conference Hall of MoE.
In a remark, Haji Mohd Sharifuddin bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer (Corporate) at the Department of Schools, said that the donations were contributions from several departments, sections and units under the ministry, as well as collections from colleges, and government’s secondary and primary schools.
It is also hoped that with such donation, students will be able to prepare their school needs and ease their daily needs burden.
Haji Mohd Sharifuddin also advised the students to use the money for beneficial means especially for their study development.
From the collected contributions totalling to $18,582, each of the students received $489.
Guest of honour, Haji Abdul Rahim bin Derus, Director General of Education at the Ministry of Education, handed over the donations.
