THIRTY-TWO participants completed the Hockey Umpire Course organised by the Brunei Darussalam Hockey Association (BHA).
The course was conducted by BHA’s Director of Umpire’s Committee, Jodiraja Amurugam, and National Hockey Team Coach Shaiful Azli at the Coaching and Sports Development Unit, Youth and Sports Department of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on January 17-18.
The main aim of the course was to introduce the new rules implemented by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
Jodiraja said these rules would take effect during the 2015 Brunei Darussalam Hockey Carnival next week and the National Hockey League in March.
“If the Brunei team is going for the 2015 SEA Games, at least the local players and umpires would be aware of the changes.”
Vice-President of BHA, Pg Hj Hassan bin Pg Anak Hashim, monitored the classes and presented the certificates.
The managers’ meeting and draw for the hockey carnival, which will take place on the January 23 and 25 will take place today at 8pm at the Hall of the Coaching and Sports Development Unit, Youth and Sports Department of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
All team managers are required to be present with completed forms.
