A PAIR of thieves was jailed for three months by the Bandar Magistrate’s Court yesterday after being convicted of their own guilty pleas of thieving from their employer’s client.
Andri Saputra, 23, and Mohamad Dholim Aris Saputra, 30, stole what was supposed to be wedding gifts kept at their employer’s premises, Acting Senior Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana Haji Abdul Rahman heard from DPP Dayangku Didi Pengiran Latiff.
The business, which caters to prepare and decorate wedding gifts, was supposed to deliver a set of decorated wedding gifts for February 13. However, the business owner realised some of his client’s items were missing on February 11.
A police report was lodged by the defendants’ boss, which led to the discovery of the theft.
On February 9, both defendants went to the boss’ house to meet a friend, but the friend was not there. Since the defendants knew where the house key was kept, they took it to enter the premises.
The defendants also knew there were wedding gifts kept at the house and proceeded to search for them.
They took a belt, a wallet, two boxes of Baju Cara Melayu studs, two wristwatches, an iPad 3 and its pouch, a mobile phone set, a manicure kit set, an external hard disk, two tasbihs and a T-shirt.
They then carried the items into the company car and drove back to their rented house.
The $4,000 worth of stolen items were all recovered and identified by its owner at the defendants’ rented house.
