THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) through the Traffic Control and Investigation Department (JSKLL), in, recorded 276 traffic offences for October 15-21, according to a weekly report.
The Traffic Control and Investigations Department in Gadong recorded 166 cases whilst the Batu 3 traffic branch in Belait District recorded 110 cases.
No cases were recorded under offences of driving while under influence of alcohol, not wearing safety belts, driving while using mobile phone, dangerous driving, while two cases were recorded for illegal taxi operation and five cases under driving without holding a valid driving licence.
Cases with regards to vehicle offences were 28 for expired road tax, none for expired driving licence, two for donning tinted glasses and six for using sunshades.
233 cases involved issuing of compound fines including 95 cases for overspeeding with a top speed of 134 km/h , seven cases for not stopping on red lights, 14 for making U-turns for at non U-turns, three for not following the road flow, 30 for not sticking road tax on the left side of vehicle windscreen, 27 for illegal parking and one for overloaded cargo.
One case was charged for not indicating with a red flag while carrying load and two cases for carrying load without proper netting.
There were also eight cases of car modifications, 29 of using illegal number plates, one of fitting rims exceeding the normal width, three cases for worn tyres, five cases for horns not functioning, four cases of not utilising headlamps at night and three cases of using different coloured front headlamps or tail lights.
