THE second batch of Pusat Latihan Mekanik (PLM) trainees is participating in the Industrial Skill Qualification (ISQ) Programme of the Energy Industry Competency Framework (EICF).
The programme organised by the Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EDPMO), welcomed 32 trainees in an introductory briefing at the Adinin Training and Development Centre (ATDC) recently.
The briefing was delivered by Haji Abed bin Haji Abdul Hamid, a Human Resources and Administration personnel of the Haji Adinin and Sons Sdn Bhd. It informed the trainees that they will undertake a two-part, four-month programme which comprises two months of training and two months of industrial placement.
The programme involves 300 hours of theoretical and practical training for competencies followed by the trainees’ industrial placement to private contractors in the oil and gas industry.
He added that the three-phased programme was to provide the trainees with working experience especially in work safety and positive work ethics.
At the end of the programme, it is anticipated that the trainees will be assimilated with the private companies as regular employees.
ATDC is engaged with EDPMO in training and consultancy activities related to lifting and hoisting for ISQ trainees who have undergone preliminary courses at PLM.
The first cohort from this programme comprising 31 students graduated in April this year.
In the past when ATD had launched a similar Youth Employment Programme in 2008, many of its trained youth were highly employable in the private industries.
