A TOTAL of 255 officers and staff of the Ministry of Education (MoE) who retired in 2016 were feted in a ceremony held at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club yesterday.
On hand to present the retirement certificates and souvenirs was the guest of honour, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Acting Minister of Education.
Among the retirees were officers and teaching staff from various schools, colleges, technical, vocational and institutions of higher learning.
In his speech, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom reminded the recipients to always uphold the efforts of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Government in developing the future generations with experience and knowledge. He also acknowledged their hard work and dedication throughout the years.
To enliven the ceremony, Hajah Kamlah binti Haji Daud, former Director of Examinations, as the representative of the retirees shared some nostalgic memories from the time she spent working under the ministry.
Also present were the permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretaries, senior officials and staff from the ministry and the departments under it. The ceremony was organised by the Human Resource Development Division and the International Affairs Unit of the MoE.
