WITH the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), the RBAF announced the promotion of 20 of its senior officers yesterday.
The insignia presentation ceremony at the Bolkiah Garrison was led by Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the RBAF.
Seven senior officers were promoted to the rank of Substantive Colonel / Substantive Captain: 312 Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ismaon bin Haji Zainie; 358 Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Azmali bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad Salleh; 359 Commander Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji; 396 Lieutenant Colonel Khairil bin Haji Ismail; 398 Lieutenant Colonel Haji Damit bin Haji Bakar; 408 Commander Pengiran Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Damit; and 412 Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin.
One senior officer, Acting Lieutenant Colonel Rani bin Bujang, was promoted to the rank of Substantive Lieutenant Colonel.
Meanwhile, 12 officers were promoted to the rank of Acting Lieutenant Colonel / Acting Commander: 477 Major Mohd Rizal bin Haji Abdul Hadi; 486 Major Johar bin Haji Abdullah; 506 Major Mohammad Suwardi Ariffin bin Pehin Datu Laksamana Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Latif; 515 Major Azman bin Haji Peizan; 557 Major (U)Mohammed Hairy Erwandy bin Haji Raya; 587 Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Azrin bin Haji Mahmud; 592 Major (U) Pengiran Mohamed Khairul Arifin bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad Salleh; 593 Major Sherpor Nezam bin Abdul Ghapor; 622 Major Alirudimi bin Haji Perudin; 683 Major Azlina binti Haji Muhammad; 693 Major Pengiran Mohammad Shamsul Reza bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Tengah; and 702 Lieutenant Commander Rasman bin Puteh.
Also present at the ceremony were First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence; members of the Defence Executive Committee; service commanders; commandants; directors; senior officers and officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF. The promotion of RBAF officers is a process integral to their career development.
The promoted officers are those who have met the required criteria by a central policy guiding career progression in the RBAF, including a good work performance and discipline record, fulfilment of course requirements, sound leadership qualities, and a good level of physical fitness.
