A DELEGATION of 15 officers from the Marine Police branch of the Royal Brunei Police Force departed for Singapore yesterday to participate in a “Boarding Officer Course”.
Led by Inspector Ismail bin Ibrahim, the three-week long course commences today.
Assistant Commanding Officer of the Marine Police, DSP Pg Hj Abd Salam bin Pg Hj Abd Ghani, bid the delegation farewell at the Brunei International Airport.
The officers will undergo training exercises with their Singaporean counterparts, the Police Coast Guard of the Singapore Police Force.
This exercise is the culmination of a bilateral meeting between the police forces of both nations. The course is important in preparing an officer to board and engage a sea vessel safely. The course will focus on enhancing the knowledge and skills of the officers.
The training will see them learning rescue techniques on the seas, specific rules and regulations, as well as the boarding and engagement of sea vessels.
