KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama) – Kemaman and Hulu Terengganu are two districts which have been affected so far by the second wave of floods which struck yesterday following incessant rain in the last 24 hours.
According to the Terengganu National Security Council (MKN) portal, until 4pm yesterday afternoon, a total of 134 people from 29 families had been evacuated to four flood relief centres opened in the morning.
The report said that of the total number, 118 were from the Padang Kubu area in Kemaman while 16 people were from Kampung Bukit Kolam, Hulu Terengganu.
In Kemaman, three relief centres were opened this morning at JKKK Padang Kubu Community hall (34 people); Ladang Padang Kubu Officers’ Barracks (63 people) and Padang Kubu Village Old Mosque (21 people).
In Hulu Terengganu, a relief centre was opened in the afternoon at the Bukit Kolam Community Hall.
The water levels of most major rivers in Terengganu were rising and residents in low-lying areas along river banks were reminded to be cautious.
