SOME 1,300 existing .bn domain names have successfully been migrated to the national .bn registry operated by Brunei Darussalam Network Information Centre Sdn Bhd (BNNIC), according to the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).
In a statement, the AITI said there had not been any disruptions to the existing customer domains following the joint technical migration conducted by BNNIC and Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) in preparation of the change for the administration of .bn domain names.
BNNIC has been handling operations on the existing domains since December 18, 2014.
All consumer requests for new registrations, renewals and modifications are now open for day-to-day processing.
These include requests pertaining to .gov.bn, .com.bn, .org.bn, .edu.bn and .net.bn until further notice.
All other user requests related to .gov.bn shall be exclusively managed by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The introduction of the national registry for .bn domains gives customers the freedom to choose from BNNIC accredited registrars.
TelBru will be taking care of all consumer specific requests until formal accreditation is awarded in the coming weeks.
Existing customers should take note that certain essential information such as business name, expiry date and contact details shall be published on BNNIC’s website at www.bnnic.bn under the WHOIS policy.
BNNIC extended its appreciation to all contributors and request potential .bn domain users to establish their mark in the interconnected world of today.
