SOME 10,000 individuals have registered for new accounts at the e-Darussalam government portal www.gov.bn since its launch in July 2011.
This was shared by the Head of the e-Darussalam Section at the e-Government National Centre (eGNC) under the Prime Minister’s Office, Siti Zurainah binti Haji Zainal Abidin, during a press briefing at an e-government roadshow at the Sentral Shopping Centre, yesterday.
The portal has also seen a boost in registrations with news of the upcoming launch of a Public Service Commission (SPA) online recruitment system this month, adding on to the various advantages of possessing an account on the portal.
“If someone wants to apply for a government job, before accessing the system, they will need to use e-Darussalam as a gateway” she said, before highlighting that they have received a positive response from the public.
The service used most often on e-Darussalam is the Land Transport service for the renewal of a driving licence, which benefits users who can now avoid queues.
“Even though collections are still done at the Land Transport Department offices, at least there is a different queue for that. Convenience is what we want for the public,” she said while revealing that 500 new accounts have been registered in Tutong and Temburong so far this year.
The roadshow continues today and the public is invited to visit for registrations and activations, at the Grand Seria Bowling Complex. Moreover, registrations can actually be carried out at home, with subsequent activations for Belait residents having to be done at the Department of Electrical Services (DES) Offices in Seria and Kuala Belait.
Account activations can also be carried out at the SPA headquarters, located on Level 1 of the Business Facility Centre at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, the Land Transport Department in Beribi as well as DES offices in Bandar Seri Begawan, Sengkurong and Tutong.
