SOME 100 people participated in the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department’s cleaning campaign, which was held in Kg Pancha Delima and Kg Delima Satu in Mukim Berakas ‘A’ yesterday. The event was conducted as part of the Municipal Department’s continuing activities at the Mukim level.
Present at the event was Yang Berhormat Awang Hj Gapor @ Hj Md Daud bin Karim, the Village Chief of Kampong Belimbing, while Acting Assistant District Officer, Ak Kamal Ariffin bin Pg Yassin attended on behalf of Brunei Muara District Office.
The campaign, which began at 7.30am at the residence of the Kg Pancha Delima Village Head, Hj Zulkifli bin Hj Awang Yaakob, was carried out in association with the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils in support of the formation of the National Parent Committee created to address issues of hygiene.
The committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the achievement of the country’s Vision 2035, as well as His Majesty’s wish for Brunei Darussalam to always be clean and well-maintained during the phases of its development.
The participants comprised of Penghulus of Mukims, Village Heads of the Brunei Muara District, as well as officers and personnel from the Brunei Muara District Office.
The Brunei Muara District Office advised residents of Mukims and Kampongs to cooperate together to ensure that their areas are clean, and reminded that the quality of the environment is the collective responsibility of citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam.
Moreover, the Brunei Muara District Office stressed for the public to be conscious of the acts governing minor offences under Paragraph 12 – offences in respect to cleanliness in public places and dumping of waste, whereby if convicted, individuals and companies can be fined a minimum compound of $100 to $500.
